Showing Love
"I don't know what to say, but I love you."
The love has been felt.
A sweet text message, a random call, a surprise present (or prezzie as we call them in our household), love comes in all forms.
I walked into my mom's house to pick her up this morning to take her to a couple of appointments; and I was greeted with my sweet Poppie on the couch, a new bouquet of flowers, and lovely stash of presents awaiting to find their place at their new home. My mom proceeded to show me each present, and explained who they were from and how each gift giver has had an impact on her.
Over the past couple weeks, the intentionality that this community has shown, has brought countless smiles in time of scary uncertainty and fear.
"I am so lucky" my mom says as she looks at me and then back at her phone filled with thoughtful text messages. We pass the high school, I hit every red light, and she continues to share who has reached out today. I smile, ask her to read them to me, and pull into a tight parking spot.
We check in to her appointment and sit down.
We all know it's not luck. It is years of devoted friendship and my mom's ability to make everyone feel understood, loved and special.
They call her name; and she heads back with a nurse who was clearly born to be in this role.
Today we celebrate love. We celebrate this community. We celebrate phone calls from sister-in-laws. We celebrate vanilla lattes (okay maybe just me on this one). We celebrate kind nurses. We celebrate kitties. We celebrate YOU.
Thank you for showing up for my mom, it is felt, appreciated and always puts a smile on our faces.
